GdS: Furlani flies to the USA for sponsor event – director decision will come upon return | OneFootball

AC Milan’s hunt for a sporting director has been put on momentary pause as Giorgio Furlani has jetted off to the United States.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Furlani – after the Fabio Paratici saga of last week – flew to the USA for a commitment related to the commercial area, a sponsor event. He will probably return on Friday, for the match with Udinese, and discussions on the sporting director will thus return to the forefront.

The situation is fluid. With the pursuit of Paratici, Milan made it clear that they are looking for a sporting director with experience in Italy, accustomed to international negotiations and building teams that fight for the title.

Igli Tare is the only one with a similar profile: he has won much less but for many seasons he has frequented Europe and Serie A during his 18 years at Lazio. Tare is gaining momentum as a candidate but Furlani will have to make a decision first and foremost.

Could he be the right sporting director for Milan? If he decides yes, he will proceed. Otherwise, Tony D’Amico, Giovanni Sartori and Giovanni Manna – the other candidates that are being talked about these days – would come back into the picture.

Milan have spoken several times with Napoli’s sporting director Manna, but he let them know that he is happy at Napoli, the club that chose him last summer. It wasn’t a no because the Rossoneri didn’t make him any offers, but it was a declaration of intent.
