Gian Piero Gasperini’s future is increasingly up in the air, as after talks with Roma and some Juventus interest, Atalanta are hoping to convince him to stay.

The coach asked for permission to speak to other clubs after stating he was struggling to retain motivation after nine years in Bergamo.

There were advanced negotiations with Roma, including a lengthy sit down with Claudio Ranieri, director Florent Ghisolfi and owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin in Tuscany.

Juventus then turned towards Gasperini after losing out on first choice Antonio Conte, who decided to stay at Napoli.

This would be a return home for the 67-year-old, who started there as a player, then began his management career in the Juventus youth academy from 1994 to 2003.

It is reported the proposals he has received from these clubs are not necessarily much more reliable than the one he has on the table from Atalanta.

This could prove to be a boon for La Dea, as fans are trying to send messages with banners outside the training ground urging him to remain.

Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà feels the club is sensing some hope too, interrupting negotiations for replacements in the belief Gasperini might change his mind.

Sky Sport Italia chief Gianluca Di Marzio also confirms that Atalanta believe they can convince him to stay.
