Transfer insider Nicolo Schira has just Tweeted that young Chelsea defender Aaron Anselmino has been “offered to Lazio” by an agent.

The young Argentine signed in the summer and stayed with Boca Juniors until the start of this month, when he was recalled to Chelsea to start settling in. But with Trevoh Chalobah also returning, there’s no room for Anselmino to pick up any minutes, and a loan makes sense until the summer.

He’s highly rated, he just needs experience. “He has developed a lot. With the growth, the head that he has and the desire to learn that he shows, he is on his way to being a great footballer,” Boca president Juan Roman Riquelme said previously.

“He is going to be a player for the [Argentina] national team. He is going to compete with the centre-backs.”

This next week will likely see a lot of shifting around, but as it stands we don’t really see this happening simply for those sort of boring admin reasons. A Championship or League One loan for 6 months would be our best choice – it gets him used to English football and guarantee he plays every week for the rest of the season, even at a lower level, without using up a foreign loan place.

What about a move to Frank Lampard’s Coventry? Now we’re talking…
