Fulham have announced the signing of Mexican striker Raul Jimenez from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £5.5 million.

The 32-year-old striker joins the Cottagers on a two-year deal with the possibility of an additional year.

Jimenez’s arrival at Fulham marks the end of a five-season stint at Wolves, where he notched 57 goals in 166 games.

Jimenez brings a wealth of experience to bolster Fulham’s attacking prowess.

Speaking to FFCtv after the signing, Jimenez expressed his delight at joining Fulham. He said: “It’s really important for me to arrive here.

“I will try to do my best for the team, one of the most iconic teams in the Premier League.”

The Mexican striker also expressed his enthusiasm for playing at Craven Cottage, hailing it as a ‘really good stadium’.

However, this signing is not just about Jimenez’s striking prowess. It also comes at a crucial juncture for the Cottagers.

The acquisition of the striker hints at the potential departure of their star forward and captain, Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Serbian international centre-forward has set his sights on a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Hilal tabled a £25 million bid, which Fulham rejected as they want £52m.

They face a crucial decision that could make or break their upcoming season.

It would be unwise to have an unhappy player in the squad with Mitrovic pushing to leave. But he is hard to replace.

Jimenez will hope to fill the massive hole in the forward line if Mitrovic leaves.

The former Benfica man is Fulham’s first official summer signing, but they have also re-signed attacker Willian on a new contract after his one-year deal with the club expired.

They have agreed personal terms with Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and are negotiating a fee for the player.

Moves for Mohammed Salisu and Calvin Bassey are also in the pipeline.
