Fulham have rejected a €40 million bid from Atalanta for Leeds United target Rodrigo Muniz, according to Sky Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Manager Daniel Farke wants a new striker at the Elland Road club after telling Patrick Bamford to leave, and the Brazilian has emerged as a target.
Fulham want €50m, but the Whites may need to look elsewhere even if they can afford to meet their demands.
Muniz is determined to join Atalanta and has told Fulham he wants to leave.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claimed on Monday that Muniz remains Leeds’ top striker target and they have not given up.
Former Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another player Leeds have discussed if they fail to sign Muniz.
Leeds want Premier League quality, and the Fulham star fits the bill.
Sadly for them, it appears a move to where Champions League football is available appeals more to him, and Leeds have been here before.
Brazilian winger Igor Paixao also opted to join Marseille ahead of the Whites from Feyenoord due to the opportunity to play in the elite European competition.
Leeds had received emails from the Eredivisie club and the attacker’s representatives which suggested that terms had been agreed.
However, he opted for Marseille and Muniz is now expected to reject them for the same reason.
The Whites have three weeks to get a deal done for a new number nine if they want to hit the ground running on their Premier League return.
