Davide Frattesi will begin personalised training on Tuesday for the first time after his surgery in July, and reports in Italy claim that Cristian Chivu is considering deploying the Italy international in a new role once he returns to full fitness.
Frattesi went under the knife to fix a bilateral sports hernia on July 10 following Inter’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 25-year-old has been working on his rehabilitation at home since the injury, but reported to the club’s training centre for gym work on Monday and will now begin his individualised training programme on Tuesday.

According to Tuesday’s report, once Frattesi is back to full fitness, he could be set to feature in a more attacking role depending on Chivu’s chosen tactics.
If the Nerazzurri line up in a 3-4-2-1 under the Romanian, one of the formations he has tested in pre-season, then Frattesi is expected to play in one of the trequartista roles behind the centre-forward, a role similar to the one he played for Italy under Luciano Spalletti.
La Gazzetta dello Sport adds that Inter are also considering handing a one-year contract extension to the former Sassuolo midfielder, which will extend his commitment to the Nerazzurri until the summer of 2029.
