The former Chelsea boss has agreed a two-year contract to take over the Championship strugglers

Frank Lampard has been appointed as the new Coventry head coach.

Lampard has been out of management since his spell as interim Chelsea boss at the end of the 2022-23 season.

He replaces Mark Robins, who was this month sacked after a seven-year spell in charge in which he led Coventry from League Two to a Championship Play-Off Final and FA Cup semi-final.

Lampard will be joined at Coventry by former Chelsea coaches Joe Edwards and Chris Jones.

His first match in charge of Coventry will be against Cardiff on Saturday.

Coventry owner Doug King said: “I am delighted that Frank Lampard has agreed to join our club as head coach.

“Frank cut his teeth in the Championship and knows what is needed in this league to be successful.

“His experiences thereafter at Chelsea and Everton will ensure he brings to our talented squad clear understanding of exactly what is needed to succeed at the very top level that we as a club are striving to reach.”
