Arsenal have reportedly expressed a willingness to double the wages of Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao in an effort to beat the likes of Manchester United to his signature this summer.

United are preparing for a busy summer transfer window, with a number of positions in need of strengthening, including the attacking department.

The Red Devils have struggled for goals all season and in addition to a striker, Ruben Amorim is believed to be eyeing a player who can play both in the No. 10 position and in the wing-back role. United continue to be linked to the likes of Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta), Tyler Dibling (Southampton) and of course, Trincao.

Primarily a right-sided attacker, Trincao has been in sensational form this season, notching an impressive eight goals and 15 assists in 31 Liga Portugal appearances.

Across all competitions, Trincao has plundered nine goals and twice as many assists.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United want to re-unite Trincao with Amorim at Old Trafford.

However, United are not the only party keeping tabs on the 25-year-old, owing to his brilliant performances. Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester City have also been mentioned to be admirers of the player.

Now, Portuguese news outlet Record reveals that Arsenal have ramped up their pursuit of Trincao as the summer transfer window nears.

It’s understood that the Gunners are prepared to double his salary if he accepts a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are hoping their lucrative offer will be enough to convince Trincao to reject Sporting’s attempts to get him to sign a new deal.

The Viana do Castelo-born footballer’s current terms at Estádio José Alvalade contain a release clause worth €60m (£51.1m).

If he chooses to seek a new challenge this summer, Sporting will demand that Trincao’s release clause is triggered. They will accept nothing less.
