Francis Coquelin (34) joined FC Nantes on a short-term deal in January, signing until the end of the season. With his contract expiring, Les Canaris have opted to extend his deal for a further year, L’Équipe understands.
Nantes once again secured their safety in Ligue 1 last season. However, despite keeping the club in the top-flight, Antoine Kombouaré lost his job as manager at the end of the campaign. The club are now in the market for a new manager and have been linked with a move for former Olympique Lyonnais manager Pierre Sage.
Whilst there remains uncertainty in the managerial position, Nantes have moved to secure the future of Coquelin, whose contract was about to expire. The Frenchman, formerly of Arsenal and Villarreal, struggled with injury issues upon his arrival at the Beaujoire, however, his experience came in handy during the final sprint. He finished the season having played six games, registering one assist during that time.
