Eliminated from the UEFA Champions League with PSG once more, Kylian Mbappe is set to sign for Real Madrid in the summer.

An official confirmation of the move is yet to be made, but talks are very advanced and the player is even close to purchasing a new home in the heart of Madrid.

Mbappe will thus join Carlo Ancelotti’s side after the hectic hiatus that lies after the end of the club season. With the European Championships scheduled for mid-June, he will link up with the French National Team for their campaign in Germany.

The Paris Olympics soon follow, and while the player wishes to participate, all signs point to the fact that Real Madrid will not permit him or his compatriots in the team.

French President speaks

Speaking to RMC Sport in a recent interaction, the President of France Emmanuel Macron confirmed that Kylian Mbappe would leave PSG this summer and hoped that his ‘future’ club would allow him to participate in the Olympics.

“Mbappé at the Olympics? You have put maximum pressure on the so-called Club of the Future.”

Admitting that the current priority was the European Championships that will be played before the quadrennial event in Paris, Macron added,

“I hope he will participate. Anyway I put the most pressure on his future team but it is always the same, let’s see one match after another. First, we have the European Championship, and therefore on July 14 they must win.”

Date set

According to a breaking update earlier today, preparations for Mbappe’s farewell ceremony in the French capital are already underway as his departure from the club edge closer.

PSG play their final home game for the season this Sunday against Toulouse and it will be on that night that the player will say his goodbyes to the club he has represented for so many years.

An announcement of his agreement with Real Madrid, however, is only expected after the team’s UEFA Champions League finale at Wembley.
