Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

Like the previous Manchester City trip, Brentford took just 22 seconds to take the lead at Tottenham Hotspur. This time, it was Bryan Mbeumo (£7.2m) on the scoresheet, continuing his good record against the north London side.

Keane Lewis-Potter (£5.0m) beat Pedro Porro (£5.6m) and played an in-swinging cross that Mbeumo volleyed home. The Cameroon international’s fourth goal in five matches could easily have increased further, having racked up another two shots on target. The Bees managed six attempts on target across the game.

Mark Flekken’s (£4.5m) continued to bring in additional points for his managers. He made six saves on Saturday afternoon, meaning that he picked up a further two save points. Flekken has made 28 saves in total this season; the most of any goalkeeper.

Flekken’s popularity is expected to surge this week, with many FPL managers expected to play their Wildcard. The FPL Wildcard is a chip that gives managers a week of unlimited free transfers - handy for putting out fires and planning for the future.

The Spotlight

In Yoane Wissa’s (£6.0m) absence summer signing, Fábio Carvalho (£4.8m) started in attack for Brentford. His start came on the back of a goal and two EFL Cup assists versus Leyton Orient in the League Cup.

This budget-friendly midfielder was used in that more attacking role against Spurs. This makes him a potential bargain for the FPL community.

Last season, Carvalho went on loan at Hull City. The midfielder was often deployed in a similar position to the one we saw against Spurs. His loan spell ended with eight goals in his final 14 Championship appearances.

Saturday saw Carvalho create two chances, one of which was classified as a big chance. When Guglielmo Vicario was on the ball, Carvalho rapidly closed him down, won possession and nudged the ball towards an Mbeumo attempt. Soon after, he broke free and passed the ball left for a Mikkel Damsgaard (£5.0m) opportunity.

Carvalho has the potential to be an excellent differential in the coming weeks. He is currently owned by just 0.9% of managers.

Best of the rest

Each Gameweek so far has seen either a Liverpool or Chelsea player be its top scorer and, this time, it was one of each - Luis Díaz (£7.9m) and Nicolas Jackson (£7.7m) accumulating 16 points.

Meanwhile, those managers patiently waiting for attacking returns from Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m) and Morgan Rogers (£5.2m) were finally rewarded, and there was comparable relief for Dean Henderson (£4.5m) owners after Crystal Palace’s 0-0 draw.

Not that everything went well: highly-selected forward João Pedro (£5.6m) missed Gameweek 4 and was limited to a Brighton cameo this time around.

In Demand

As a result of his brace, Díaz has overtaken team-mate Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) as FPL’s number one midfielder. Diaz is one of the most-bought players ahead of the Gameweek 6 deadline. Meanwhile, Diogo Jota (£7.5m) spent the whole of Gameweek 5 on the bench and, as a result, is being heavily sold.

Arsenal’s Gabriel (£6.1m) is also in demand this week. The centre-back has scored in successive league matches.

Mbeumo is currently Gameweek 6’s third-most purchased individual, based on great form and promising fixtures.

Captaincy

Erling Haaland (£15.3m) may not have been the best armband candidate, ahead of a meeting with Arsenal last weekend. However, he scored in the ninth minute showing he is fixture proof. The Norwegian is a great captaincy option against a potentially porous Newcastle defence in Gameweek 6.

Of the rest, Salah travels to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ollie Watkins (£9.0m) has resumed goalscoring in time for Ipswich Town, and Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) has delivered in every single match. He’s also going toe-to-toe with a recently-promoted side, in this case, Leicester City.
