Former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Jen Beattie has announced her retirement from football.
The 33-year-old made 143 appearances for the Scotland national team, scoring 24 goals in the process.
At club level, Beattie came up through the Queen's Park youth sector, before joining Celtic in 2008. Two spells at Arsenal, a stint at Montpellier, and four years at Manchester City followed, before ending her career in the NWSL with Bay FC.
Beattie also successfully recovered from breast cancer during her playing career, while continuing to represent both Arsenal and Scotland during her treatment.
That saw her recognised in the New Years’ Honours List in 2023 for services to football and charity, two years after winning the Helen Rollason award at the 2021 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
