Barcelona are looking to return to winning ways as they take on Real Sociedad at home this evening.

This promises to be a must-win encounter for the Catalans, who are desperate to trump Girona in the race for the second spot in the league table.

Heading into this important clash, former Real Madrid star Alvaro Odriozola praised Barcelona despite their poor form.

Odriozola on Barcelona’s form

With just one win in their last four competitive matches, Barcelona are clearly not enjoying the best of form right now.

However, despite Barça’s form, Alvaro Odriozola warned that the Catalans could be a formidable opponent for Real Sociedad.

“Yes, it is a difficult time, but Barcelona and these clubs, even if they are worse, can cause the most damage to you. Barcelona is a great club, with a team of young players who could represent an era,” Odriozola said (h/t MARCA).

Formerly of Real Madrid and Bayern, Odriozola returned to Real Sociedad for a fee of just €3 million last summer. Although he hasn’t played a key role for his team this season, his progress has been largely halted by injuries.

The right-back went on to praise youngster Lamine Yamal, who has emerged as one of the rising stars in world football this season.

“I am amazed by Lamine Yemal at this age. If he avoids injuries, he can represent an era in Barcelona,” the defender added.

With six goals and nine assists in all competitions at the age of just 16, Yamal has indeed been one of the bright spots in an otherwise dire campaign for Barcelona this term.

The youngster will look to continue his good form as Barça take on Real Sociedad, in a crucial La Liga tie this evening.
