Carlos Forbs made his official debut for Club Brugge on Sunday. The Portuguese winger, who joined from Ajax, immediately made a good impression on the Belgian press after his first game.
Forbs started on the bench for Bruges’ season opener, but was subbed on after a disappointing first half. Forbs was part of the regroup for the Blauw-Zwart who trailed 1-0 to Genk.
Polish international Michal Skóras joined Forbs on the pitch, and things immediately started to improve for Club Brugge going forward. “Thanks to Skóras and Forbs coming on as substitutes, Club Brugge were able to increasingly apply pressure,” Sporza analysed.
“Suddenly, things started to turn around at Club,” the outlet said, referring to the turnaround in the match after manager Nicky Hayen’s substitutions. “He brought in fresh players like Skoras, Forbs, and Bjorn Meijer, and it paid off.”
Het Nieuwsblad also noted a fine performance from Forbs. “He brought speed and action. Not bad for a first introduction.”
This added to the publication’s earlier praise, when Club Brugge lost 3-1 to Patro Eisden in preseason. “The former Ajax player immediately stood out with his speed. Forbs should have scored when he was one-on-one with the Patro goalkeeper, but otherwise he made a good impression.”
