If Barcelona’s ongoing issues in regard to Dani Olmo’s registration were not enough, things may be about to get a lot worse for the club.
That is because Olmo’s former club, RB Leipzig, are exploring legal ways to demand money from Barcelona.
Olmo’s move to Barcelona was one of the headlines of the summer, with the Catalan club forking out €55 million for his services.
A chunk of that amount – about €20 million – was in the form of variables. Half of those variables were relatively easy to meet.
But now that Olmo cannot play for Barcelona due to his registration woes, Leipzig are looking to claim at least €10 million of those variables, reports COPE.
As per the report, Leipzig’s legal team is actively contemplating requesting these payments.

The crux of the issue lies in the financial fair play regulations that have prevented Barcelona from registering Olmo for the season, thus potentially voiding or complicating the terms under which these bonuses were to be earned. I
t’s understood that the bonuses were tied to performance metrics which Olmo has not been able to meet due to his absence from the pitch.
The potential claim by Leipzig could exacerbate Barcelona’s financial pressures at a time when they are already stretched thin in meeting league compliance standards.
Barcelona, though, are actively working on ways to register Olmo and Pau Victor. They are expected to appeal to CSD for precautionary measures, failing which, the matters could be taken to ordinary courts – a situation Barcelona wish to avoid.
