Former Chelsea player says current “goalkeeper worries me” and Blues “need another striker” | OneFootball

One former Chelsea player has declared that the club still need to sign another new striker and the goalkeeper position still worries him too.

I think this is probably words that will resonate with many Chelsea fans right now, but will it resonate with the club, who seemingly keep pushing out that they are happy with the squad they have got and keep backing the decision to use Robert Sanchez as the number one in the sticks.

John Obi Mikel disagrees, and this is a guy who has spoken with the Chelsea owners recently so would have absolutely told them this to their faces too. But will they listen to him? He’s already been reporting what he believes the plans are for the winter and summer transfer windows on his latest podcast, but we will have to wait and see what happens this window and if things are going to wait until the summer or improved in the January window that opens up today!

Mikel still wants a new striker

Mikel has been criticising Nicolas Jackson quite a bit over time, and Jackson has improved since that. But even still, Mikel thinks Chelsea need to sign another striker as well as Jackson to offer some real competition, and I absolutely agree with that.

Speaking on his latest podcast in words cited by PYS on X, Mikel spoke on the January transfer window:

“We need another striker, I’ve said this so many times, Goalkeeper worries me.”

The goalkeeper worries most Chelsea fans. But I actually think that one or two new centre backs are probably needed more than anything else right now, this is Chelsea’s weakest link in my view. But yes, we also do still need a new goalkeeper and another new striker.
