Mick McCarthy and David Moyes were inducted to the LMA Hall of Fame 1000 Club, alongside Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp and Ian Holloway. The former Celtic defensive duo were pictured on stage at the event with the Champions League and Premier League winning Klopp and Mourinho.
Moyes began his professional playing career at Celtic in 1980. A central defender, he made limited appearances during his time at the club, struggling to secure a regular starting place. Despite winning a league title in 1981–82, his Celtic career was modest before moving on to other clubs. Moyes began managing at Preston before achieving major success with Everton, where he built a consistent Premier League side. He succeeded Alex Ferguson at Manchester United but struggled. Later roles included Real Sociedad, Sunderland, and West Ham, where he revived his reputation, winning the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League. Moyes returned to Everton last season and ensured that the Liverpool club could avoid relegation and give Goodison Park an appropriate send-off.

Mick McCarthy joined Celtic in 1987 from Manchester City. A tough, commanding central defender, he became team captain and played a key role in the defense. Despite his leadership, his time at Celtic was short-lived, leaving in 1989 after just two seasons, leaving with two Scottish Cups and a League title from the Centenary season. McCarthy’s management career includes leading Millwall, the Republic of Ireland (twice), Sunderland, Wolves, Ipswich, APOEL, and Cardiff. Known for his pragmatic style, he guided Ireland to the 2002 World Cup and won the Championship with both Sunderland and Wolves, earning promotion to the Premier League with the latter. Most recently, McCarthy managed Blackpool.

At various spells in recent years, both Moyes and Big Mick have been linked with the managerial vacancy at Celtic Park but neither have made the switch to Glasgow’s East End.
