Nicolas Tagliafico will sign a new contract with Olympique Lyon, L’Équipe reports. The Argentine will soon sign a two-year contract.
“It’s very good news for Olympique Lyon,” report the French media. “Argentine world champion Tagliafico, whose contract expired on June 30, will sign a new two-year contract in the coming hours.”
Tagliafico has been maintaining his fitness in recent weeks in Amsterdam, where the wing-back has a house due to his time with Ajax. The Argentine was previously under contract in Amsterdam between 2018 and 2022, where he totalled 169 appearances in all competitions in that time.
Due to his free agent status and the fact that Tagliafico was training in the Netherlands, some Ajax supporters hoped for a spectacular comeback. However, that scenario appears to be on hold.
The 32-year-old defender has finally accepted Lyon’s offer, L’Équipe reports. He will sign a contract until 2027, with an option for an additional year.
