It seems as though Fodé Ballo-Touré’s move to Saint-Etienne is at risk of falling apart because he cannot find an agreement with them over salary, a report claims.

Having signed Youssouf Fofana from AS Monaco to make it four new additions for the summer, Milan are now looking at trimming the squad by offloading players that are not deemed a part of Paulo Fonseca’s plans, and Ballo-Toure certainly falls into that category.

The former Monaco defender has already said no to joining Besiktas this summer, but a return to France was reported to be on the cards when Saint-Etienne came forward and made an offer Milan were happy with, while the player gave the green light too.

According to what FootMercato are reporting, Ballo-Toure’s move back to Ligue 1 will now not be happening because he and Saint-Etienne couldn’t find a meeting point on the wages that he would receive.

The distance between the parties is too great and therefore the deal can be considered off after the two clubs had already found an agreement based around bonuses rather than an up front transfer fee, for an amount less than €1m.

The tweet also mentions that Saint-Étienne have already moved on and have found an agreement with Maccabi Haifa for another left-back in Pierre Cornud.
