A United States under-17 international, the striker is a son of former Wigan Athletic and Hull City left back Maynor Figueroa.

Figueroa, 17, has scored three goals and made two assists in eight under-18 Premier League matches this season, and has been prolific in the youth sectors for the USA as well.

The frontman has returned nine goals from 14 outings at under-17 level in the international ranks.

Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras when his dad was a player for Olimpia, Figueroa lived in England as a child while Maynor forged a solid career in the Premier League.

Figueroa senior acquired a US green card in 2020, having spent time in MLS with Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo, after departing England.

Keyrol has been on Liverpool’s books since under-14 level, moving back to the UK from FC Dallas in 2018, and has been tipped to make a successful career as a senior player owing to an outstanding youth goalscoring record.

He has only just returned to the under-18 picture following an injury which kept him out for two months, grabbing an assist for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s side in their last outing against Wolves.

Keyrol becomes the latest football offspring to take his first steps in the game at Liverpool’s academy.

Jayden Danns, the young striker who recently made the step-up to the first team, is the son of Neil Danns, a former Premier League midfielder.

Lewis Koumas also had a footballing father in former Wales cult hero Jason Koumas, who played for Wigan alongside Figueroa senior.

Maynor was a fan favourite during his time in Wigan, winning the FA Cup under Roberto Martinez in 2013, although he missed the final through injury.

He won over 180 international caps for Honduras, but his son has so far opted for the USMNT, although he also remains eligible for England.
