Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso promised he would personally speak with Moise Kean to convince him to stay despite the looming threat of his €52M release clause. He indeed proceeded to do that in Sardinia despite the chaos created by the sudden postponement, Ansa reports.

The governor reaffirmed the striker’s centrality in their project and the team’s wish to hold onto him for years to come. He wanted to relay his esteem before heading back to the United States later this week.

According to Sky, the Fiorentina brass and Kean didn’t go past an informal chat. They didn’t discuss a potential renewal, which is the only way to formally remove the menace, as the player’s agent wasn’t present.

Per Corriere Fiorentino (via Calciomercato), Commisso pointed out that the Viola hand-picked the marksman after he had scored zero goals last year and that the club is ambitious and bound to grow. The center-forward will have a decision to make in the first two weeks of July if a team will be willing to pay as much as requested. He’ll likely consider only sides that would guarantee him a starring role, so he doesn’t get lost in the shuffle again.

Our Take on Fiorentina and Kean

He should stick around for at least a couple of seasons as he has finally found the right landing spot and is achieving his potential after switching sides so many times earlier in his career. But the temptations will be there, and some calls are tough to resist.
