Having made it clear to Olympique Marseille that his preference was for Fiorentina, Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli is edging closer to a deadline day move.
The Italy international had been approached by both clubs over the last few days, but multiple sources reported that he informed Marseille he would prefer to remain in Serie A with the Viola.
In turn, Marseille focused instead on Ismael Bennacer and struck a deal with Milan for the loan at €1m plus option to buy for a further €12m and bonuses.

Now Sky Sport Italia claim that Fiorentina are intensifying talks with Juventus, hoping to get an agreement over the line before the deadline at 23.00 GMT.
Sportitalia noted that the asking price from Juve was €15m plus €4-5m in add-ons and a percentage of the sell-on fee.
He turns 24 later this month and has seven senior caps for Italy, so far this season making 22 competitive appearances fort the Bianconeri.
The alternative that Fiorentina have for Fagioli is Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante.
Meanwhile, Milan would be allowed to sign Riccardo Sottil from Fiorentina on loan with option to buy for €10m only if a suitable replacement was found first.
Sky Sport Italia suggest that Valencia striker Rafa Mir was proposed to the Tuscans.
