Feyenoord will play their first warm-up match in preparation for the 2025-26 season against SC Cambuur. As per ESPN and the club’s official channels, Robin van Persie’s team will be visiting Leeuwarden on 5 July, on the belated occasion of the official opening of the new Cambuur stadium.
Although Cambuur will be playing all of its home games in the Kooi Stadium this season, the new home is not yet fully completed, and will therefore experience a proper opening ceremony at the start of the upcoming season.
To celebrate the completion of the new stadium, a practice match with Feyenoord has been planned. Prior to the match, various festivities are scheduled to mark the official opening.
Before moving to the Kooi Stadium in August 2024, the club previously played at the Cambuur Stadion from 1936. The old ground held 10,500 spectators, while the new arena can accommodate 15,000. The new ground is believed to be the most sustainable stadium in the Netherlands, according to Coliseum:
“With practical solutions such as collecting rainwater, solar panels on the roof, no gas connections and waste processing, the new stadium is a shining example for other clubs and households in general.”
