Felix Reveals Reason Behind Milan Switch and Inter Snub

Joao Felix joined Milan late in the January window and was formally introduced only on Monday after already making two appearances and scoring once. He dished on the move and more (via Sky).

“We won twice in a row. I was aware of the magnitude of this team. It’s immense, one of the biggest in Europe. Kaká has always been my inspiration, and we’ve been in touch in the past. He’s my idol, but I can’t compare myself to him. I knew the coach and had been following him. I relayed to him that my only expectation was to play in my role, no matter how much. That’s what convinced me.”

Felix believes it’s sustainable for Milan to field all their star attackers together.

“It obviously is. I don’t know whether it’ll be the norm, and defending is very important, but we can do that when we are all on the pitch together. It’s part of our job to track back and try to maintain the right balance, as we did in the second half against Empoli.”

Felix confirmed that Inter inquired about him in January.

“My agent told me about their interest, but I had already started negotiating with Milan and made up my mind. I said to him that it was impossible and that I had decided to come here.”

Felix revealed his goal.

“My objective is to help the team win trophies. That’s what careers are made of. It’s the most important thing. It’ll be my aim as long as I’m here. Things can always change in football, but, if there is the chance, I’d like to stay at Milan.”
