Papa Amadou Diallo (21) is on the verge of leaving FC Metz to join English Championship outfit Norwich City, according to L’Équipe. The Senegalese winger is expected to complete his medical in the coming hours before signing a long-term contract with the Canaries.
Metz are set to receive a fee in the region of €4.5 million for Diallo, who was also the subject of interest from Slavia Prague and Watford. The deal represents a profitable piece of business for the Moselle club, who recruited the player from Génération Foot in February 2023.
Diallo, who has already earned 7 caps for Senegal (2 goals), enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024/25 — scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists in 29 Ligue 2 appearances. He made a total of 53 appearances for Metz, contributing 9 goals and 6 assists across all competitions since his arrival. Metz were promoted to Ligue 1 after beating Reims in the promotion / relegation play-off back in May.
The winger was withdrawn at the last minute from Metz’s friendly squad to face Red Star (4-0) on Sunday and did not travel with the squad for their pre-season training camp in Tubize, Belgium. His departure is expected to be followed shortly by that of Swedish winger Joël Asoro.
Metz have already moved to reinforce their flanks, bringing in Giorgi Tsitaishvili and Giorgi Abuachvili on loan, while Malick Mbaye has returned from a productive loan at Amiens and is set to be integrated into Stéphane Le Mignan’s first-team plans.GFFN | George Boxall
