In the wake of the departure of Lucho Acosta, FC Cincinnati have completed the signing of Portland Timbers star attacker Evander, reportedly signing the Brazilian for a fee of $12m plus add-ons.
The Brazilian had hit out against Timbers executives in a strongly-worded social media post during the offseason.
"Portland fans do not deserve the people who have power over this club," he said online.
"People who say they are men but do not keep their word. People who are only there when the team wins. Unfortunately, these are things we have no control over."
Evander's farewell message to Timbers fans on Instagram
"To the fans, this was never about money," he wrote.
"I never put that above the respect I have for this club and this city. In fact, I sacrificed a lot just to be able to move forward.
"But in the end, I wasn't given a choice"
With the seemingly irreparable fracture with the club, the Brazilian angled for a move away from the Pacific Northwest, now landing in Cincinnati.
"I'm really happy, and I’m looking forward to the start of the season," said Evander.
"When I received the video of the stadium and training facility, and all the fans as well, I just got even more excited to be part of the team, to be part of the club.
"I'm looking forward to meeting up with the fans. I'm here to help. I'm here to do my best for the club and hopefully win some trophies.”
The 26-year-old bagged 15 goals and 19 assists in the 2024 MLS season, a Timbers club record campaign statistically.
