We’re only three games into the 2024/25 Premier League campaign but have already seen some incredible sprints that wouldn’t have looked out of place at the Paris Olympics.

In May, we revealed the fastest Premier League players of 2023/24. So, who are the fastest players in the Premier League so far this season? Read on to see the list of pace-setters.

10. Gabriel Martinelli

  1. Club: Arsenal
  2. Top speed: 35.08 km/h

Gabriel Martinelli endured a relatively disappointing 2023/24 campaign by his own standards and he’s yet to truly get going this time around. However, Mikel Arteta will continue to give the Brazilian chances if for no other reason but his sheer speed. Martinelli has clocked a top speed of 35.08 km/h this season already, sneaking him into the top 10 as Arsenal’s only representative.

You have to think Bukayo Saka will make his way onto this list at some point as well.

9. Son Heung-min

  1. Club: Tottenham
  2. Top speed: 35.13 km/h

Even at 32 years old, Son Heung-min remains one of the fastest players in the Premier League, with 35.13 km/h his quickest sprint so far. The South Korean forward has used that pace to good effect already, notching two goals in three Premier League games.

Spurs fans should stay tuned, there’s plenty more to come from them here.

8. Antonee Robinson

  1. Club: Fulham
  2. Top speed: 35.14 km/h

Ever so slightly faster than Son is Fulham’s American left-back Antonee Robinson, who uses his pace to tear up and down the left flank for the Cottagers. Robinson also combines that speed with excellent technical ability and is among the best left-backs in the Premier League right now.

7. Micky van de Ven

  1. Club: Tottenham
  2. Top speed: 35.17 km/h

Our second — and not last — Spurs player is fan favourite Micky van de Ven. The Dutch defender usually relies on his pace for defensive actions, covering behind Tottenham’s backline when teams counter-attack. However, he’s also capable of surging runs forward, including one that ripped right through the heart of Everton to set up a Son strike in a recent 4-0 thrashing of the Toffees.

6. Yerson Mosquera

  1. Club: Wolves
  2. Top speed: 35.32 km/h

Tottenham aren’t the only ones with a Roadrunner-esque defender mopping up. Wolves have their very own fleet-footed failsafe in Yerson Mosquera. The Colombian has already clocked a 35.32 km/h sprint this season; 0.15 km/h faster than Van de Ven, which is quite a considerable gap given the fine margins at this pace.

5. Marcus Rashford

  1. Club: Manchester United
  2. Top speed: 35.35 km/h

Marcus Rashford is coming in for some heavy criticism at the moment but he’ll always have a place in the top echelons of football when he’s turning out sprints of 35.35 km/h. In fairness to the England forward, he made a bright start in the recent defeat to Liverpool, beating Trent Alexander-Arnold on multiple occasions, and was about as likely as anyone to give United supporters something to cheer about.

4. Cameron Archer

  1. Club: Southampton
  2. Top speed: 35.47 km/h

In the space of one summer, Cameron Archer left Sheffield United to return to Aston Villa, before immediately being shipped to Southampton, so he’s certainly contributed plenty to the moving van economy. With this sort of speed, there’s every chance Archer legged it past his furniture on the M3 heading into Southampton.

3. Alejandro Garnacho

  1. Club: Manchester United
  2. Top speed: 35.48 km/h

Erik ten Hag’s decision to withdraw Alejandro Garnacho during the humiliating loss to Liverpool proved extremely unpopular. Sure, the Argentine starlet wasn’t having his best game, but he’s capable of exploding into life at any given moment. Given that only two players in the entire Premier League have clocked faster sprints than him so far, it was probably worth leaving him on for a quick long ball over the top.

2. Timo Werner

  1. Club: Tottenham
  2. Top speed: 35.69 km/h

Our third and final Spurs entry, Timo Werner is probably one of the most frustrating players around right now. The German forward has so many ingredients that should make him an elite player, but there’s just something missing. Even so, he’s an absolute trailblazer and at the very least, should prove himself a useful impact sub with Ange Postecoglou unleashing his pace on tired defenders late in games.

1. Erling Haaland

  1. Club: Manchester City
  2. Top speed: 35.74 km/h

What’s that? Erling Haaland is just a six-yard box merchant? You seem to be forgetting that this is not a human we’re dealing with, but rather a cyborg sent from another reality, created for the specific purpose of scoring goals and making elite defenders look like your average centre-back from the Dog and Gun’s Sunday league B team.

The most remarkable thing about Haaland’s terrifying pace is the image of this 6ft 4″ monster barrelling toward you at 35.74 km/h.

You’re left with two options: let him through to score, or try to get in his way and likely face a night or two in a hospital bed. Your choice, but we know what we’re going with…
