Family of former Real Madrid star Asensio was targeted with abuse & projectiles vs Barcelona | OneFootball

An insight into the harrowing reception afforded to the family of Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Asensio by sections of the Barcelona fanbase this week has been forthcoming online.

Barca, of course, welcomed PSG to Catalunya’s capital on Tuesday night, for the 2nd leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.

When all was said and done, it was the latter who emerged on both the right side of the result, and the tie, to book their spot in the final-4 of European football’s elite club competition.

Whilst PSG’s players enjoyed an evening to remember at Montjuïc, however, some of their loved ones were subjected to anything but.

As per a report from French outlet L’Équipe, as cited by Foot Mercato, Marco Asensio’s family were the victims of abuse throughout the 90 minutes.

Attacker Asensio is of course a former member of the ranks at Barcelona’s biggest rivals, Real Madrid.

And the Blaugrana faithful made their feelings with as much crystal clear on Tuesday night, in hurling both verbal abuse, and a series of projectiles and bottles, at those to have made the trip to support the Spaniard back in his home country.
