The January transfer window will give Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim his first opportunity to shape the team in line with his vision. However, the biggest changes are expected next summer, with Amorim reportedly eyeing a Paris Saint-Germain player who might be open to a move.
Last summer, United brought in Manuel Ugarte from PSG, and the midfielder has flourished under Amorim’s guidance. Now, the Portuguese coach is reportedly targeting another former Sporting Lisbon player who is currently at PSG.
According to a recent report from CaughtOffside, Manchester United is still interested in Nuno Mendes. The report adds that Mendes is pleased with the club’s interest after talks with his representatives.
If Mendes doesn’t reach an agreement on a contract extension with PSG, the club is expected to entertain offers of around €70 million next summer.

In his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that PSG left-back Nuno Mendes is a player that Manchester United are interested in ahead of the January transfer window.
Romano also noted that while United are planning to sign a player in this position in 2025, Mendes isn’t the only player on their radar.
PSG have a verbal agreement to extend Mendes’ contract and are determined to keep him at the club, making a deal difficult to complete. As one of the most promising young full-backs in world football, Mendes could be a great fit for Amorim’s system.
A solid defender, Mendes also brings a strong attacking threat, making him ideal for the wing-back role in Amorim’s setup. Although securing his signature will be challenging, with his contract expiring in 2026, PSG may be forced to sell if they can’t reach an agreement on a new deal.
