Chelsea got their season underway with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, but their sister club Strasbourg went one better later that day, beating Metz 1-0 away from home to make a winning start to their Ligue 1 campaign.

Liam Rosenior has a very tough job on his hands matching last season’s exploited. The Alsatians almost made it to the Champions League after an exceptional post-Christmas run, and nobody is expecting them to do quite that well.

To make things harder, they’ve lost a lot of talent in the summer – Habib Diarra went to Sunderland, Andrey Santos returned to Chelsea from his loan and Djordje Petrovic went to Bournemouth.

They have added players too, and could yet add more. Rumours this afternoon have claimed that this year’s Chelsea academy player who could join their sister club is Genesis Antwi.

Antwi a perfect wide solution

The exceptional wing back was last seen picking up a brilliant assist in our friendly game against Bayer Leverkusen two weeks ago. Now 18, the Sweden youth international has been at Chelsea since he was 11 and made his debut in March of this year in a Conference League game against Copenhagen. He featured against Djurgarden in that same competition in May, and was on the bench in the Premier League game against Leicester at the end of the season.

Clearly he’s ready for senior football – and Strasbourg could be an ideal destination. We saw Diego Moreira move and look great as a wing back in Rosenior’s formation, and Antwi could play a similar role.

According to “the Chelsea Spot” on Twitter, Strasbourg are already in talks with Chelsea and the player and his family have visited the French side’s training ground ahead of a potential move.

It’s not yet clear if it will be permanent or a loan – but we expect more details to follow soon.
