Norwich City are in advanced talks to sign Lincoln City forward Jovon Makama, Football League World has exclusively been informed.

The Canaries are heading into the 25/26 season under the management of Liam Manning, and will be hoping to put their disappointing 13th-placed campaign behind them and return to Premier League promotion contention.

Meanwhile, Lincoln City are hoping to return to the League One play-offs after missing out for the last two seasons in a row, with Michael Skubala guiding the club to 13th-place in the third tier last term.

The Imps have seen a number of their key players depart the Sincil Bank this summer, with Ethan Erhahon, Sean Roughan and Paudie O'Connor all leaving the club.

They now look set to wave goodbye to another.

Football League World has exclusively been informed that Norwich City are in advanced talks to sign Lincoln City forward Jovon Makama.

The 21-year-old is a product of Lincoln's academy system, having first signed professionally with the club in May 2021.

However, it wasn't until the 23/24 season that he really burst onto the scene at Sincil Bank, in a season that saw him make 40 appearances in all competitions for the Imps.

He would then follow that up in 24/25 with an excellent campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists in 45 total appearances, with seven of those strikes coming in the league.

Makama signed a three-year contract extension with Lincoln in October last year, meaning he's contracted with the club until the summer of 2027.

Having lost some key attacking players such as Jonathan Rowe and Borja Sainz this summer, Norwich City are needing to do a restock of their attacking options.

The future of Josh Sargent also remains firmly up in the air, with it being likely he departs Carrow Road before the 1 September deadline.

Manning has been able to add Metz winger Papa Diallo and Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden to his attacking ranks, but they could perhaps still do with some extra firepower up top in order to ensure their potent attack force from last season - that scored 71 goals in the Championship - is capable of firing them to the play-offs in 25/26.

Makama is a versatile forward, who can play on either flank or through the middle as a centre-forward, and could add a real spark of energy and depth to Manning's squad.

Still only 21, Makama evidently possesses the potential to become a real top-quality forward over the next few years, and could be one that should he reach that potential at Carrow Road, lands the Canaries a significant return on their investment.
