Lewis Travis is a man in-demand this summer, with John Eustace plotting a reunion with the Rovers midfielder
Derby County have joined the transfer race for Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis, sources have exclusively told Football League World.
The Rams are looking to bolster their ranks for the 2025-26 campaign after pulling clear of relegation danger on the final day of the previous Championship season, although they are yet to break ground when it comes to incoming signings for the summer transfer window.
Head coach John Eustace certainly has his eyes on players though, and he's looking to re-unite with a player he knows very well from his time at Ewood Park.
FLW has been told that Blackburn midfielder Travis is now wanted by Derby and Eustace, with his future at the Lancashire outfit uncertain.
The 27-year-old was not at Blackburn when Eustace arrived at Ewood Park to replace Jon Dahl Tomasson in the dugout, having been sent out on loan to Ipswich Town for the second half of 2023-24, but FLW's sources have informed us that the Derby boss is a big fan of Travis' abilities in the middle of the park, having worked with him for the majority of the 2024-25 season.
Derby aren't the only club in the race for Travis' services though, with Championship newcomers Wrexham also in the mix.
Alan Nixon reported last week that the Red Dragons were targeting the Whiston-born central midfielder this summer in a bid to strengthen their own engine room, and it was claimed that they will offer Travis a major increase on his current Rovers wage if he were to make the switch to North Wales.
Nixon's report also claimed that Rovers are looking for a £2 million fee for Travis, who is set to enter the final 12 months of his deal when July comes around.
Travis would be somewhat of a coup for Derby if they can get a deal over the line, and Eustace is someone that Rovers' number 27 showed his best form under in the first half of last season.
Eustace is keen on a handful of his former Blackburn players though, as FLW revealed last month that experienced pair Danny Batth and Andreas Weimann - a former Ram himself having plied his trade for the club between 2015 and 2018 - were both on his radar.
Batth and Weimann are both out of contract at Rovers, so would be able to move on for absolutely nothing if they wanted to, but it will take more than that to prise Travis away from the club, and it may come down to who can offer him the best personal terms between County and Phil Parkinson's Wrexham.
