Paris Saint-German are open to parting ways with Marco Asensio during the January transfer window, with Aston Villa and Newcastle among the clubs interested in signing the 28-year-old star.

The Spaniard has been with PSG since the summer of 2023 having rejected deals to join Liverpool and Chelsea but has failed to establish himself as a key player in Paris.

Luis Enrique has not relied on the midfielder heavily throughout the first half of the 2024/25 campaign, with Asensio failing to come off of the bench in three out of the last four Ligue 1 matches.

The former Real Madrid star has fallen out of favour at PSG and therefore, the Ligue 1 champions are open to moving the player on in January.

Sources have told CaughtOffside that Asensio is also willing to consider an exit from the Parc des Princes and is known to be in talks with clubs such as Newcastle United and Aston Villa – Unai Emery is also considering re-signing Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea.

PSG are ready to listen to offers in the region of €25m-€30m for the Spain international, although the two Premier League clubs would prefer a loan deal for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign. The player’s main priority is his playing time.

Other clubs closely monitoring the situation of the midfielder at PSG are Real Sociedad, Real Betis and Arsenal. However, only time will tell if any of these make an official move before the January window shuts.

Asensio has featured in 25 matches for PSG this season, scoring two goals and assisting a further four. Despite racking up a considerable amount of minutes at the start of the term, the 28-year-old has found himself as an unused sub of late.

This is not a situation a three-time Champions League winner wants to find himself in and it is fueling his desire to leave Paris.

A move to the Premier League may excite the Spaniard having never played in the division before and a move to a club such as Newcastle could be very beneficial to both, as Eddie Howe’s men are in great form and are pushing towards the Champions League places.
