Matteo Darmian feels that Inter Milan are fully expecting February to be a very difficult test.

The 35-year-old spoke in a press conference after today’s Serie A win over Lecce, as reported by FCInterNews. He gave his thoughts on the fixture list ahead as well as reacting to the victory.

Inter took three much-needed points against Lecce this evening.

The Nerazzurri will be happy to have put the pressure back on Napoli in the title race. And to have done so in such convincing fashion, with an emphatic 4-0 victory.

But Inter can hardly catch their breath.

Already on Wednesday, the Nerazzurri have another crunch match. They face Monaco in the decisive final “league phase” match of the Champions League.

Then next weekend it is the derby against AC Milan. After two losses to the Rossoneri already this season, Inter will be desperate for revenge.

That derby kicks off a sequence of matches that sees Inter take on the likes of Juventus, Fiorentina, and Lazio, before they face Napoli in a potential title-decider at the start of March.

Matteo Darmian: “Inter Milan Know February Will Be Difficult”

After today’s win over Lecce, Darmian said that “We’re focused on our own path.”

“We want to do as well as we possibly can in all competitions.”

Darmian said that “We’ll prepare for the Champions League match now.”

“We want to finish in the top eight [in Europe]. As well as to keep doing well in the league.”

“We know how difficult a month February will be,” Darmian said. “In general, no match can be taken for granted when you’re playing every three days as we did today.”

Darmian said that a win over Lecce “was not a given.”

“We did well to manage the match. Now we’ll focus on the matches to come.”
