Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini has hinted at interest in signing veteran Inter Milan forward Alexis Sanchez this summer.

The Chilean coach made no secret of the fact that the 35-year-old had been a target for Betis last summer speaking to La Tercera, via FCInterNews. And he did not rule out a move this summer.

One thing that looks relatively certain is that Sanchez will leave Inter this summer.

The former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona is only under contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of next month.

And there looks to be little chance of Inter offering Sanchez a new contract.

The club have other plans in attack. Therefore, Sanchez would likely be free to choose his next club in the summer.

Whether the Chilean is to remain in European football, or depart the continent after well over a decade, remains to be seen.

A lot will of course depend on where the interest in signing Sanchez comes from.

And a move to La Liga could very well be on the cards.

Real Betis Coach Pellegrini Teases Move For Inter Forward Alexis Sanchez

Andalusian club Real Betis are currently just outside the European places in the La Liga table. However, they are very much still in the hunt over the last few matches of the season.

And the Spanish side are already planning for next season off the pitch.

Former Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Villarreal coach Pellegrini commented that “I have two years left on my contract. I hope to fulfill them.”

And of interest in Sanchez, the coach said that “I spoke with Alexis last season. Before he went to Inter.”

“We had some discussions – but he preferred to join Inter.”

“Now things have changed, though,” continued Pellegrini. “The season is finishing.”

Pellegrini said of his Chilean countryman that “He’s a player who’s proven himself all through his career.”

“There are very few players like him in the world.”

“A Chilean who can play for Manchester United, Arsenal, Inter, all the teams he’s played for.”

“He’s always wanted to play,” Pellegrini said. “He’s a top player in world football, but I don’t know if there’s room for him in Betis’s budget.”
