Former Juventus star Zbigniew Boniek warns the Bianconeri to ‘watch out’ for Aston Villa and Unai Emery.

Juventus visit Aston Villa in the Champions League Round 5 on Wednesday.

The Bianconeri secured two wins in the opening rounds, but then lost to VfB Stuttgart at home before collecting a 1-1 draw against Lille in the latest round.

Juventus reached the Champions League Final in 2015 and 2017 but lost to Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively.

“The No.10 suits him, but be careful with comparisons. He has just started his history, and I wish him a career like Platini’s.”

Motta’s Juventus are unbeaten in Serie A but are already four points below table leaders Napoli.

“I’m curious, in a positive way, Motta’s personality seems to fit Juventus,” said Boniek.

“I hope Juventus can fight until the end for the Scudetto. Right now, they can’t look too far ahead. They must watch out for Emery’s Aston Villa, he is a cup specialist. Juventus will need quality and charisma to win. These are the things that make the difference, not the numbers, not the systems.”

Juventus will have just 14 outfield players available against Aston Villa on Wednesday. Their best scorer, Dusan Vlahovic, is among those out of action due to injuries.

“I was entirely convinced he would have emerged very quickly at Juventus after his time at Fiorentina, but something still blocks him,” said Boniek.

The former Serie A star also gave his verdict on two new signings: Francisco Conceiçao and Teun Koopmeiners.

“Conceiçao is quick and fast in one-v-one. He is arrogant, in a positive way. His dribbles can make the difference against Aston Villa and watch out for Koopmeiners,” argued Boniek.

“I think Koopmeiners is a phenomenon. He leaves his impact, even if he hasn’t yet scored.”

Boniek’s compatriot Jakub Kiwior has been linked with a January move to Turin. But who would be a better fit: him or Milan Skriniar?

“Kiwior is strong on headers, left-footed and versatile. Skriniar already played for Inter. He’s a certainty,” concluded Boniek.

“Why should I choose? If I could, I’d sign them both.”
