Ex-Barcelona star assures that Vinícius is better than incoming Real Madrid teammate Mbappé | OneFootball

A once-iconic member of the attacking ranks at Barcelona has today provided his take on the impending arrival of Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid.

Frontman Mbappé’s move to Spain’s capital of course took a significant step forward on Friday, upon the Frenchman at last making official his summer departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappé, in turn, will go on to add to what is quickly beginning to look like an embarrassment of riches at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabéu.

From the off next season, Real Madrid look set to have all of the incoming PSG star, Vinícius Jr, Rodrygo, Brahim Díaz, Endrick, Joselu and Arda Güler as options in the attacking third.

Mbappé, though, has already been labelled by many as the best of a world-class bunch.

And yet, as alluded to above, one individual who does not agree with such a line of thinking comes in the form of Rivaldo.

Speaking as part of his role as an ambassador for Betfair, as cited by Diario AS, former Barcelona standout Rivaldo was drawn on the Mbappé vs Vinícius debate.

And the 52-year-old went on to point towards his fellow countryman as, at least at this moment in time, the superior player:

“Taking into account what he is doing at Real Madrid, Vinícius is undoubtedly the better player today.”

“Vinícius has a great chance of being awarded the Ballon d’Or. He is already doing very well, he already deserved to be there last season. He is now among the three best players in the world. And this year, with what he is doing at Real Madrid, with the way he plays… he undoubtedly has a good chance of being the best player in the world, to beat Mbappé to that trophy.”
