Former Atalanta midfielder Massimo Donati argues that Ademola Lookman has finally ‘gained awareness’ of his strengths, so ‘nobody’ can stop him, while Nicolò Zaniolo still has work to do but can find the ‘right key.’
Atalanta are the current Serie A table leaders and will face Cesena in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 today.
Lookman, the fresh winner of the African Ballon d’Or, is expected to rest, making room for Zaniolo in La Dea’s attack.
“Lookman is an incredible player,” Donati, a former midfielder for Atalanta and Celtic Glasgow, told Gazzetta on Wednesday.

“The biggest improvement he’s made is to gain awareness of his strengths. Once you realise that, nobody can stop you.”
Zaniolo has recently scored crucial goals against Roma and Cagliari but hasn’t yet fulfilled his potential.
“He still has work to do, but Nicolò should also realise how strong he is. He just needs to find the right key,” argued Donati, who insisted his former club can win the Scudetto this season.
“Why not? They can remain up there for a long time,” he said.
“They have reached a level where they have more than 11 starters and they are still without Scalvini and Scamacca. Koopmeiners’ sale has had no impact. They have a solid structure, so they have coped with an important sale.”
