Former AC Milan striker Oliver Bierhoff feels that “the results speak for themselves” at Inter Milan under Simone Inzaghi.
The ex-Germany international spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews. He also praised Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
Inter take on AC Milan in the derby tomorrow evening in Serie A.
The Rossoneri have beaten the Nerazzurri in both previous meetings this season.
However, it will certainly be a hugely challenging matches for both teams.
Former striker Bierhoff played in his share of Milan derbies. He played for the Rossoneri between 1998 and 2001, having previously starred for the likes of Ascoli and Udinese.
And Bierhoff feels that Inter will be a very tough opponent for Milan this time around. Particularly in terms of a couple players.
Moreover, the former German international is also a big fan of the Nerazzurri’s coach.
Former AC Milan striker Bierhoff said that the favourites tomorrow are “Inter, because they won the last league title by a wide margins and are currently second in the table.”
“Milan, on the other hand, had to change coach. Because they couldn’t find the right rhythm at the start of the season.”

“And unfortunately, their place in the table is there for all to see,” said Bierhoff.
“Furthermore, in the last round of the Champions League, the Nerazzurri finished in the top eight with a great performance, and Milan wasted a great opportunity with a bad performance in Zagreb.”
Therefore, Bierhoff argued, “the results say” that Inter are the favourites.
“But that’s not always an advantage. Because the derby is a match in itself.”
The teams “take to the pitch for the three points – but also to make the fans happy, and to give a special value to the season.”
“Milan are coming into it in a bit of a crisis. They’ll want to take this chance to restart their season.”
Meanwhile, Bierhoff called Inter captain Lautaro Martinez “a certainty” for the Nerazzurri.
“But [Inter’s key player] I’d say Calhanoglu,” the former striker added. “He’s developed very well as a footballer.”
“I was sad when he chose to represent Turkey,” Bierhoff admitted. “Because he could have played for Germany like Gundogan, Ozil, and Musiala.”
