Graeme Bailey in his report for TBR Football has stated that Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton is wanted by a number of clubs in the upcoming summer transfer window. He is one of the quality young defenders in the Premier League, and his contract with the Toffees expires in the summer of 2027. Bailey has reported that Branthwaite is ready to extend his contract with Everton.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all interested in the defender. He was injured in the starting phase of the season but has returned back to his best since his return. The defender has showcased impressive playing traits. Standing at 6’5″, his physical presence is a significant asset, excelling in aerial duels and dominating opponents with his strength and speed.
His game reading is notably mature for his age, demonstrating excellent positioning and an ability to anticipate threats. Branthwaite’s defensive stats place him among the league’s elite, reflecting his capability in tackles, interceptions, and clearances. Additionally, he shows composure on the ball, contributing to Everton’s build-up play. His versatility to play across the backline and his proactive engagement against attackers highlight his promising future in defence.

Branthwaite has conceded 14 goals and kept 7 clean sheets in 18 matches in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. That means when Branthwaite is on the pitch, his team concedes a goal every 103 minutes. Moreover, he’s made 1.66 tackles and 0.93 interceptions for every 90 minutes he was on the pitch. Branthwaite is also racking up about 6.31 clearances at the same time.
Everton are very confident that they can extend his stay at the club but make him sign a new contract. The player also wants to stay at Everton and wants to take a look at how things go under David Moyes and the Friedkin Group. The Toffees are ready to offer a huge salary in his new contract. If Branthwaite goes on to sign a new contract, Everton could sell him for £70 million to £80 million, and he can become the most expensive defender in the history of the Premier League.
In my view, it is a good decision given that he is a sensational defender and is only 22-year-old. Therefore, it is right decision from Everton to extend his stay at the club.
