Manchester City supporters have been issued with a five-word update from Erling Haaland himself on his recovery from an ankle injury.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined for a number of weeks with an issue sustained in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Bournemouth, requiring further assessment on the matter in Barcelona from Manchester City-trusted specialists.

A follow-up statement from the football club confirmed such assessments but did suggest that the 2024/25 season as a whole was not over for Erling Haaland, despite the disruption to the all-important run-in across competitions.

“The expectation is that Erling (Haaland) will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup,” Manchester City said in their club statement to supporters.

And while Manchester City’s campaign has not been disrupted in terms of results since Haaland stepped away from first-team action, maintaining their hunt of a top-five finish and reaching the FA Cup final, the Norwegian has issued a huge boost to the club this week.

In an upload to his official Snapchat channel, the Manchester City striker has now confirmed to followers and supporters that he is back training with the wider first-team group in a five-word comment accompanying a selfie.

Subsequent imagery published by Manchester City themselves later on Wednesday evening showcased the star striker back in training alongside his teammates, winning a small-sided match alongside the likes of Jack Grealish and Ederson.

Following the return of Haaland, as well as Ederson and Rodri in the last few days, Pep Guardiola is now just three players away from a fully-fit squad for the first time in many months in a hugely damaged campaign on the injury front.

John Stones and Nathan Ake remain sidelined as the central defensive duo continue to battle on with reoccurrences of injury problems that have hampered their season as a whole, with the latter recovering from surgery.

Oscar Bobb is also once again subjected to a period on the sidelines as his recovery from a long-term bone break in his leg has been hindered by an ankle setback and most recently, a hamstring issue. However, the season is not expected to be over for the Norwegian forward.

Pep Guardiola is set to provide a fresh update on the injury and fitness situation concerning his City squad on Thursday afternoon when he addresses the media in his pre-match press conference looking ahead to Friday night’s home Premier League clash with Wolves.
