Everton have shown a mixed bag over the last few years. At one point, they struggled in the bottom half of the table, but bounced back strongly in the second half of last season. The defence and midfield showed improvement, but the attack still lacked creativity. The team produced some good results in some key matches, raising hopes that they can make it to the top half next season. To reach this target, the club need players who can create innumerable chances during the game and take the lead to score goals themselves.

Everton’s priority in the ongoing summer transfer window was clear – bringing in a player who can make a difference in the final third. The club’s supporters were hoping for a big name to come in who would enhance the team’s attacking identity. Many names were discussed during this period, but the management kept calm and worked on their plan. Finally, the moment came that got Merseyside fans excited.

According to reports from Athletic, Everton have reached an agreement to sign 29-year-old English international Jack Grealish from Manchester City. The deal will be on loan, with a permanent purchase option of £50 million. The transfer will be officially completed after medical tests. Grealish will get a chance to play regularly at Everton, which can give a new direction to his career.

The Englishman was under tremendous pressure due to his price tag at Manchester City, which prevented him from enjoying his game to the fullest. At Everton, he will not have to face that pressure. Here, the 29-year-old can take the team to new heights with his skill and creativity. The club needed a player like him in the attacking third who could create chances and contribute to consistent goals.

Our opinion: Why this deal is the right move

If this deal is completed, it can prove to be a big weapon for David Moyes. Grealish’s experience and understanding of the Premier League could give Everton an edge in matches where creativity has been lacking. His dribbling skills and positional play would give the team additional options.

Plus, the move would allow Moyes to diversify his tactics. Grealish could have a free role to make an impact in both midfield and on the wing. If he can find his old form, Everton would no longer be just a mid-table team, but could be a contender for a European spot. There is risk in this deal, but the reward could potentially be far greater, and if he shines at the Goodison Park, Everton can sign him permanently next season.
