Elena Sadiku is focused on the job ahead as her side prepare to take on Hibernian at Celtic Park on Sunday in the final SWPL match of the season.

The Celtic Head Coach knows that, barring an extraordinary swing in goal difference, a win on Sunday will mean that Celtic will win the SWPL title for the first time in the club's history.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match, she was keen to stress that, despite being fully aware of what Sunday’s match could bring, she and her team are preparing as they normally do.

“This game will be treated exactly the same as all the other games we’ve had,” she said. “It’s going to be the same focus.

“I don’t need to say more than that because I think everyone knows what the game means for us.

‘We’ve put ourselves in to this position and that’s something we should be proud of.’

“We all know what’s on the line so we just need to enjoy it.”

The Celts are unbeaten in the league since the SWPL split in March, and they go in to Sunday’s match on the back of a 3-1 victory away to Hearts on Wednesday night.

That midweek performance was a real statement of intent and the perfect preparation ahead of a title-deciding day on Sunday.

Reflecting on the midweek victory and looking ahead to the challenge that Hibs will pose, Elena Sadiku said: “We had a good performance against Hearts in the last game and that’s something we want to do against Hibs on Sunday.

“It’s going to be a tough test, a tough opponent to play against.

‘If we do what we’re good at, we should be confident that we can get a result.'

“But we’re respectful and humble about the test on Sunday and our job is to focus on what we can do and what we need to do.”

Ahead of Sunday’s match, the Head Coach has also urged the Celtic faithful to back the Ghirls and be the driving force that helps push them on to victory.

It has been a busy week for the team, with two matches already played, and with one more to go, the Head Coach is hoping that her team, together with the Celtic support, can claim a piece of Scottish football history on Sunday.

A win on Sunday would mean that, for the first time in Scottish football, both the men’s and women’s titles would be held by the same club.

“It’s so important that the girls get what they deserve,” she said. “And that’s the best possible support from the fans.

‘I really hope the maximum support will be there because as a club we can write history.’

"It’s been an intense week, with three games, so the extra push from the fans can give the players a lot.

"I hope that the fans feel like it’s a special thing that we can do together.”
