Edward Chilufya: A return to Sweden slipping away?
Zambian winger Edward Chilufya, currently under contract with FC Midtjylland until 2026, is eager for a reunion with his former Swedish club, Djurgården. However, Midtjylland’s financial demands are making the transfer a tough nut to crack.
The Danish club is reportedly asking between €1.5 and €2 million to release the 25-year-old Zambian winger—a figure Djurgården considers too steep. For Bosse Andersson, Djurgården’s sporting director, the interest is genuine, talks are ongoing, but nothing is straightforward:
We’re in contact with him, but we don’t know if it will come to fruition.
It’s worth noting that Djurgården has already made significant investments this summer, notably bringing in Mikael Anderson and Bo Hegland, which limits their financial wiggle room. Chilufya first joined Djurgården in 2018 before being sold to Midtjylland for around €2.2 million. Now, the Danish side is looking to maximize their return on that deal. Despite his 30 appearances this season, a homecoming to Sweden doesn’t seem to be on the cards for the Zambian just yet.
