Juventus were victorious in their Serie A clash with AC Milan on Sunday evening. A 63rd minute strike from former Milan midfielder Manuel Locatelli sealed the 1-0 win for the visitors, moving them up to third place in the table. The night was incredibly special for one Juventus player in particular. 2005-born Dutch defender Dean Huijsen was handed his first team debut, as he helped his side see out the victory.
At 18 years old, Huijsen became the sixth Dutch player to play for Juventus. The youngster featured for 15 minutes, coming off the bench to replace Federico Gatti. Dean Huijsen has spent the last three seasons with Juventus’ youth academy. The centre-back has represented Netherlands U17’s 11 times, the U18’s four times and last month he captained the U19’s squad in their 2-0 victory over Italy. Huijsen is definitely a defender to keep an eye on.
There are some concerns surrounding Dean Huijsen’s international future. The player was born in Amsterdam but moved to Spain with his family at the age of five. Having lived there for more than 10 years, Huijsen could represent Spain if the Spanish Football Association approach him. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona and Bayern Munich tried to sign the centre-back during the summer, but Huijsen decided to stay at Juventus having recently extended his contract until 2027.
