Donny van de Beek’s agent, Guido Albers, has indicated that his client will not be heading back to Ajax as he prefers other potential destinations.

It’s looking almost certain that Van de Beek will leave Manchester United at the end of the season. The midfielder has endured a nightmare spell at Old Trafford since his arrival, which has seen him make loan switches to Everton and more recently, Eintracht Frankfurt.

Neither transfer has served to reignite his career and it’s now almost inevitable that United and Van de Beek will part ways permanently.

He joined Frankfurt in January but has been unable to force himself into Dino Toppmoller’s plans. Van de Beek has only made eight appearances at the Deutsche Bank Park outfit after playing only two games for United before he made the switch to the Bundesliga.

All season, the Netherlands international has only managed 380 minutes.

Unsurprisingly, Frankfurt have elected not to make his stay in Germany permanent and he will go back to United before being made available for sale.

A report covered by The Peoples Person mooted a potential return to Ajax for the 27-year-old. It’s in Amsterdam that Van de Beek made his name and convinced United to fork out £39m to secure his services in 2020.

However, according to his agent, that option is not on the table and they’re eyeing a transfer to Spain or Italy instead.

Van de Beek’s representative also discussed how the star’s proposed January loan move to Real Sociedad collapsed.

He said, “I sat with Donny. In any case, he will not return to Ajax. My preference was to look in Spain, France or Italy. ”

“If I can get it to Spain or Italy that would be fantastic. At a club where he can play as number 10 as he did at Ajax.”

On the Sociedad transfer falling through, Albers remarked, “That fell through at the last minute. Ten Hag then wanted to keep him until the last moment of the transfer period.”

“Then a choice had to be made and he joined Eintracht Frankfurt through a relationship from his previous management. They did that very well by taking him away from Manchester United where he was not going to play anyway.”

He added, “But then you arrive late at a club where you are not known at all. That is very difficult.”

Van de Beek’s contract with United is set to expire in 2025, so the upcoming window represents the Red Devils’ only chance of getting whatever little fee they can from getting rid of him.
