Day two of the training camp in Donaueschingen began wet and early. By 7:30 CEST, Marcel Schäfer and Sebastian Schuppan had already returned from their morning run. They weren’t the only early risers: the fitness coaches, physios and other staff members had also been up with the lark, making the most of the quiet early hours to jog through the green surroundings of Donaueschingen.

Donaueschingen's very own hand of god

Right on cue for the morning session, the sun came out over the Black Forest. An intense workout awaited the players. Over the course of two full hours, the watching fans were treated to plenty of action: Max Finkgräfe attempted a scissor kick, Xaver Schlager was in the goals and Christoph Baumgartner did his best Diego Maradona impression in an aerial duel with Janis Blaswich.

Team Raum get the win

The session ended with a high-tempo game format. Three teams battled it out in short, intense mini-matches for the tournament win. The rule was simple: concede a goal, and you’re off the pitch. The final was decided by a penalty shootout – Janis Blaswich saved from Amadou Haidara to hand his team victory with a crucial stop.

Yan Diomande faces the media

After training, all eyes, microphones, cameras and phones were on Yan Diomande. The new signing spoke about his first week in an RBL shirt, his debut goal, and which teammates he’s been spending the most time with.

Yoga, weights, golf

The afternoon saw the players head to the fitness tent. Split into two groups, they began with stretching and yoga, before moving on to weight training, core stability work and plyometric exercises.

While the second training group were still working up a sweat in the fitness tent, the first set of players were already unwinding on the golf course. Despite it being a smaller ball, the Red Bulls impressed on the green too with the same high standards. Day two of the training camp in Donaueschingen left everyone wanting more.
