Divisive Barcelona star’s contract renewal labelled as ‘imminent’ | OneFootball

A long-time member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona will imminently put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.

That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto of Relevo, who points towards the player in question coming in the form of Sergi Roberto.

The subject of Roberto’s plans beyond the summer has of course long taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.

As much comes ahead of the imminent expiration of his terms with Barcelona.

Roberto, for his part, is understood to be on the summer wishlists of a whole host of clubs, with Barca’s La Liga rivals Girona, for one, named as keen admirers.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, the 32-year-old will be going nowhere this summer.

As per the aforementioned Relevo, a meeting between Roberto’s entourage and the Barcelona brass took place earlier this week.

And, during as much, the two parties revealed ‘a total willingness’ to reach an agreement on a new contract.

The basic terms of a deal, in turn, are understood to have been drawn up, with it not out of the question that Roberto’s one-year renewal could be made official as soon as next week.
