Ismael Bennacer sustained an injury training with Algeria and the initial tests are not positive, suggesting that the midfielder is dealing with a calf lesion. According to a report, this could keep the midfielder out for around three months.

It was earlier today that Algeria confirmed the injury, ruling him out for the upcoming game, and more reports have now surfaced on the matter. Bianchin stated that Milan are fearing a ‘longer stop‘ and this has been backed up by Gianluca Di Marzio.

According to the journalist, as cited by Francesco Nasato, Bennacer has already undergone tests that showed a third-degree lesion to his calf. Further tests will take place at Milanello and if its diagnosis were to be confirmed, then the midfielder will be looking at 2.5-3 months on the sidelines.

It comes after Milan tried to offload Bennacer in the final days of the transfer window, even leaving him out of training for a few days. However, once it became clear that he was staying, he was reinstated and Paulo Fonseca had been hoping to use him after the break.

Many fans have also been calling for Tijjani Reijnders to play in the No.10 role but without Bennacer, this might not happen.
