An insight into some of the finer details of the new contract signed by Athletic Club star Nico Williams has this weekend been provided.

This, of course, comes fresh off the 22-year-old leaving Spanish football as a whole in a state of shock earlier this week.

Nico was for his part widely expected to be on the move this summer, locked in talks over a Barcelona switch for the 2nd year running.

The winger even went as far as to give his word on the terms of a contract with the Blaugrana, all the way through the summer of 2031.

Safe to say, then, that it marked nothing short of a bombshell when, on Friday, word was forthcoming that Nico had instead put pen to paper on a new long-term deal in Bilbao.

And as alluded to above, with the dust having now settled on the saga, an insight into the details of as much has been forthcoming.

As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Nico Williams’ release clause will be worth €100m starting from 2026. New agreement with Athletic Club for potential salary over €10m net with add-ons based on goals and assists. There are also add-ons based on Spanish NT calls, performances and more.’
